JOB DESCRIPTION:
Sudwerk Brewing Company’s tasting room, The Dock, is seeking a new beertender. The Beertender serves as an ambassador for the brewery, providing patrons with knowledge about the brewery, the brewing process, and the beers we serve. The Beertender is responsible for providing excellent customer service, serving customers and brewery employees, and performing duties as necessary to keep a clean and orderly bar.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Sudwerk Brewing Company’s tasting room, The Dock, is seeking a new beertender. The Beertender serves as an ambassador for the brewery, providing patrons with knowledge about the brewery, the brewing process, and the beers we serve. The Beertender is responsible for providing excellent customer service, serving customers and brewery employees, and performing duties as necessary to keep a clean and orderly bar.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and serve visitors
- Use of point-of-sale system to conduct sales, open tabs, and other transactions needed for operation of the tasting room.
- Checking IDs
- Provide knowledge on our facility, brewing processes, and beer through customer tours and tasting flights
- Facilitate retail keg sales and returns
- Daily inventory, organization, and restocking of retail merchandise and beer
- Promote and sell Sudwerk merchandise and packaged product
- Busing dishes and trash
- Operation and cleaning of commercial dishwasher
- Cleaning of facility including, but not limited to, mopping, sweeping, emptying trash bins, and sanitizing surfaces,
- Other duties as needed for the proper operation of the Sudwerk tasting room.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-2 years retail experience
- Exceptional level of beer knowledge – through cicerone certification, work experience, formal education (All Dock staff are required to be cicerone beer server certified within 3 months of employment)
- Clean and organized with an attention to detail – maintaining a clean and inviting retail space
- Draft system experience – line cleaning, general maintenance, and troubleshooting of draft issues is necessary on a weekly basis.
- Knowledge of Alcoholic Beverage Control laws and regulations governing our facility and proper techniques for validating age and identification (All Dock staff are required to be ABC LEAD certified within 3 months of employment)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- Ability to lift 55+ lbs. on a regular basis
- Heavy physical work (bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, etc.)
- Will work continuously on wet floors and with wet equipment
- Ability to work in hot, cold and noisy environments with loud to moderate continuous noise in work area
- Work with strong and often times hazardous chemicals
- Standing for long periods of time (up to 8-10 hours per day)
